On Tuesday, December 12, Valley Christian Schools International Space Station (ISS) Program received a commendation from the San Jose Mayor's Office. Valley Christian Schools President, Dr. Clifford Daugherty and the VP of the AMSE, Danny Kim, were accompanied by a group of ISS students, teachers, and program mentors who proudly represented VCS on the council chamber floor.
This year's Christmas at the California concert showcased a groundbreaking collaboration between the Arts, Academics, and Athletics at Valley Christian Schools. Troy Gunter, VP/Director of the Conservatory of Arts was accompanied on stage by Eric Scharrenberg, VP of Athletics and PE, and Danny Kim, VP of AMSE. Congratulations to our Advanced Data Analysis class, led by Mrs. Claudia Smith and Mr. Jim Oliphant. We are excited to announce that our students were selected as the "Best Overall High School" winners in the American Statistical Association Contest. (@thisisstats)
Eight students and two mentors traveled to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to compete in the XPRIZE Competition. Shortly after their arrival on Saturday, November 18, they went out to sea to launch their AUVs in front of the judges. That day, everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong.
Math Club students placed 5th in the nation, 2nd in California, in the 2017 Team Scramble competition.
Congratulations! Our High School Purple Comet Math Team placed 1st in California and 96th percentile in the Nation! The Purple Comet! Math Meet is an on-line, international, team mathematics competition. This is our best finish in school history (26/30 correct). Only one of the six team members is graduating, so we will have another strong team next year!
Rik Mukherjee's team "A3R2MY," participated in the San Jose Tech Museum's Tech Challenge. Rik's team won FIRST PRIZE in the "Best Overall" category
On April 22nd, VCS Math League team placed 4th in the California State High School Championships.
Our SOAR students continue to reign supreme in the west! This year Ethan Hamamatsu is the first place Western Regional winner.
At the end of the 3 hour meet, Valley came away with 5 ribbons winners!
We are proud to congratulate the WarriorBots on their performance last Saturday! The students worked very hard and we are glad to see them bestowed with the First Place Programming Award at the Silicon Valley Championship.
Life Science students had an opportunity to explore, observe, and discover the structures of the arm of a chicken, which is similar to the human arm.
Satellite Tracking I AMSE students learned fundamental techniques on how to track satellites last fall during after school classes that are part of the AMSE co-curricular program.
Last October, VCS students from the newly formed AMSE SNAP Club attended the Bay Area Buddy Walk at Lake Cunningham Park.
We are so proud of our students for accomplishing yet another milestone, becoming the first junior high school and high school students (as a school-wide project) to have their 3D objects printed in space aboard the International Space Station!
On December 4th, the above VCS students made it to the semifinals of the Northern California Fall History Bee and Bowl.
